About De Kastart

De Kastart, where different generations come together to enjoy a delicious house spaghetti, celebrated its 32nd anniversary in 2020…

The name ‘De Kastart’ is based on the word ‘kastaar’, a slang term for a mischievous person in Dutch, and on the nearby Sint-Lucas art academy, whose students were our very first customers: ‘De Kastart’ was born.

For decades, we have continuously invested in order to guarantee the quality of our products and service. Almost everything has already been updated, apart from… the recipe for our sauce! Day in, day out, our sauce is freshly prepared in our own kitchens in ever-greater quantities, and we have to say we’re pretty proud of that!

In order to optimise our service still further, we moved our Takeaway from inside the restaurant to the building next door in 2018. This ‘shop’ has its own fully-equipped kitchen from which the sauces - which are freshly prepared every day - are sold directly to customers who come and collect them from the shop, or delivered via our courier service partner Deliveroo, which takes care of the home delivery of spaghetti and/or sauces.

In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on sustainability, which at De Kastart translates into using biodegradable carrier bags, cutlery, straws, etc.

Thank you for your many years of loyalty to De Kastart!
